Spike is available to view on cable and satellite across the United States. The channel was originally known as The Nashville Network
and later as The National Network

in 2006. Their demographics have been changed to cater to young adult men. The channels first change was the acquisition of WWE wrestling from USA network. The also added a number of classic TV shows such as Diff'rent Strokes
and The Wonder Years
. In 2003, Spike moved to a more adult line up with the addition of series such as Stripperella
, a popular physical Japanese game show. Spike is currently owned by MTV Networks and Viacom. Late in 2003, Spike TV was sued by Spike Lee over the use of the name, believing that 'Spike' was a reference to himself.
Spike has pulled off some major coups by landing many well known tv reruns such as Star Trek

and all of the James Bond
movie series. Although they had a set back in 2005 when they lost the rights to WWE wrestling back to the USA network. They counter-acted the loss by adding The Ultimate Fighter
, a reality show starring want to be UFC fighters. They also added the fledging TNA: Total Nonstop Action Wrestling organization with their TNA iMPACT!
