Fans of ‘Downton Abbey’ are used to characters leaving the hit show. From the adored Sybil (Jessica Brown Findlay) to the beloved Matthew (Dan Stevens), this is one series that definitely knows how to make viewers suffer heartbreak.
Well, it looks like another character will be exiting ‘Downton,’ but it will not be in the same fashion as Sybil and Matthew aka this one won’t bite the dust.

According to The Daily Mail, Lily James will bid farewell to the series and her character, Lady Rose. It seems James will be getting into the fairytale biz, as she is the title star of Disney’s live-action ‘Cinderella,’ which also stars Richard Madden (‘Game of Thrones’), Cate Blanchett and Helena Bonham Carter.
Apparently, Disney wants James’ full commitment to the big screen adaptation. Set to release next year, around Easter, James is needed to travel and promote the film around the world, meaning her princess itinerary would interfere with ‘Downton’s Season 6 filming schedule.
“It's a very important film for Disney, and you can understand them wanting their leading lady to be available to promote it," a rep for the actress told The Daily Mail.

Sources also told The Daily Mail, “The ‘Downton’ overlords don’t want Lady Rose written out of the show, though, so they will have her ‘bubbling’ away, but out of sight, and have urged her to come back and appear in the special Christmas episodes.”
No official details have been given on just how Lady Rose will make her exit, but she will finish out the fifth season.
‘Downton Abbey’ Season 5 premieres in the fall 2014 in the U.K. and will hit the U.S. in January 2015.
