Ricky Gervais is set to return to Netflix at the end of the month, and to hold fans over in the meantime, the streaming service released a trailer for the second season of Gervais’ mockumentary comedic drama, ‘Derek.’
Written, directed, starring, and executive-produced by the British talent, the series centers on Derek Noakes (Gervais), an optimistic and tender man who loves his job working at a retirement home. Alongside Derek are his hard-luck boss Dougie (Karl Pilkington), the loveable train wreck Kev (David Earl), and his best friend Hannah (Kerry Godliman).
The Season 2 trailer promises more friendships and laughs, and seems that Derek’s ever-positive attitude continues to affect those around him. Derek’s father Anthony is seen moving into the home, a man with whom Derek has reconciled. Meanwhile, it seems Hannah and Tom are trying to have a baby.
What’s more, Derek learns how to use Twitter! And there may be some awkward yoga action as well.
"I was blown away by the affection from around the world for the first series, particularly the emotional connection it seemed to make with people,” said Gervais. “I hope they like the second offering as much."

Karl Pilkington, not Karly Pilkington. Are there no proof readers? My local paper once ran a criminal description of a Black guy underneath a White guys photo in the wanted section. And it was not a misplacement of two pics. The paper is common for that. But as society degrades I see less and less of the perfectionism writers, editors and publishers once exhibited.
