Great news for Meera Rohit Kumbhani!
FOX has added Kumbhani as the fourth lead actor in the six-episode, single-camera ensemble comedy series ‘Weird Loners.’
The series, written by Michael Weithorn and directed by Jake Kasdan for 20th TV, depicts the story of four relationship-phobic people who are forced into one another’s lives and consequently develop an unexpected bond in a townhouse in Queens, New York.
Kumbhani will play Zara, “a beautiful young bisexual woman.” She’s also a free-spirited artist and the quintessential heartbreaker; she’s the lady who makes women fall head over heels for her, and then dumps them as soon as things get a tad serious.
Becki Newton (‘Ugly Betty’), Zachary Knighton (‘Happy Endings’), and Nate Torrence (‘Hello Ladies’) have been previously cast as the three other friends who are so deeply afraid of commitment.
First, Newton has been slated to play Caryn “a high-strung dental hygienist,” and a complete pushover for an attractive and charming men. She’s the person who comes on too strong and too fast, self-sabotaging any chance for a relationship.

Next, Torrence will play Eric, “a nerdy but not unattractive guy,” who makes a living as a toll collector on a commuter bridge. After taking care of his elderly parents for his entire adult life, Eric is unanchored in the “real world” after his father passes away. To his delight, his cousin, Stosh, offers to move in with him.
Stosh Lewandowski, played by Knighton, is a “whip-smart and rakishly handsome sales rep with a cynical edge.” However, he ends up falling into bed with his boss’ fiance, which ultimately gets him fired. Basically homeless, he offers to move in with his grieving cousin, Eric. (Definitely not for the reasons I first expected!)
Kumbhani is newer than most to the screen. She appeared most recently on ABC’s drama ‘Black Box’ as Resident #2 and TV series short ‘Carpe Noctem’ as Betty.
