We’re only seven episodes into ‘Da Vinci’s Demons’ 10-episode second season, but that isn’t stopping Starz from renewing the drama for a third season.
Today, the network announced the renewal of the historical fantasy hit, starring Tom Riley as Leonardo da Vinci. Created by David S. Goyer, Season 3 has found a new showrunner/executive producer in John Shiban (‘Breaking Bad,’ ‘The X-Files’), but Goyer will still serve as exec-producer.

“I’m very proud of this modern take on the endlessly fascinating Leonardo da Vinci — everyone from the writers, directors, cast and all the crew have been invaluable and will continue to be for what we have ahead,” Goyer said. “I’ve been a fan of John’s work for some time and I’m excited to add his voice to the mix.”
Shiban is also developing another series for the network based on Chuck Wendig’s novels titled ‘Blackbirds.’ So far, the project has set up a writers room, which usually happens before a series pick-up at the cable network.
The potential series will follow Miriam Black, “a street-smart runaway, hitchhiking through the American Southwest as she struggles with a unique ability when she touches you, she sees how and when you die.”
Shiban adapted the book and will executive produce with David Knoeller who also exec-produces Starz’s other new series ‘Power.’
