'Revenge' Season 3 Finale: Who Died and Who Came Back?

[WARNING: If you have not yet seen the Season 3 finale of ‘Revenge,’ stop reading right now. Major — and I do mean MAJOR — spoilers ahead.]

'Revenge' Season 3 Finale: Who Died and Who Came Back?

Wow…just…WOW. Did all of that really just happen? This week’s season finale of ‘Revenge’ did not hold anything back. There was not one, but TWO murders, a resurrection, an arrest and an unexpected trip to the loony bin. Basically, THINGS HAPPENED and we really need to talk about it because, honestly, I can’t hold all of this in for an entire summer. It’s just not going to happen.

First of all — DAVID CLARKE IS ALIVE! How is this possible? And not only that, but his first order of business was to straight up murder Conrad. Or, at least, attempt to murder him since I now have absolutely zero confidence that dead really means dead on this show. I mean, Conrad certainly looked dead, but I’m having a hard time completely believing it. Probably because the main dead guy on this show just came back to life. So yeah, call me skeptical.

But back to the David situation — this is a huge, game-changing twist for next season and leaves us with just as many questions as it does emotions.

Honestly, I’m not entirely sure how I feel about this. For me, David has always represented the only true form of complete innocence on this series. It made me understand why Emily wanted so desperately to avenge him. He was a good guy who deserved justice! But now to discover that he’s actually been alive all this time? That he allowed his daughter to grow up thinking he was dead? That he let her basically dedicate her entire life to plotting revenge in his honor? Yes, that definitely shifts my opinion of him.

In a big way, it undermines everything that Emily has tried to achieve over the past three years. And now he’s going around stabbing people? Granted, Conrad certainly had it coming, but still! David was supposed to be better than all of them. Now he IS one of them. Of course, we’ll all have a better idea of how to feel about this situation once Season 4 gets going. But just thinking of Emily’s reaction when father and daughter finally come face-to-face (and you know they will) makes me almost wish fall was here right now. Almost.

But the David/Conrad encounter wasn’t the only big twist of the night. Wanting Emily to experience the same agony she felt over losing Pascal, Victoria managed to drug Aiden’s drink, paralyzing him, and then proceeded to smother him to death with a pillow. Now this death I actually believe, especially since his body was propped up on Emily’s couch ‘Weekend at Bernie’s-style later that day. That goes right up there on my list of worst “welcome home” presents ever, by the way.

We knew someone was going to die by night’s end just as the promo promised. However, it was still so extremely heartbreaking to watch Aiden and Emily’s happy ending come so close, only to be taken away in one fell swoop. RIP Aiden. But on the plus side, this definitely clears the way for a Jack-Emily hook-up, right? Too soon?

Although, last we saw, Jack’s in a bit of a bind now that Charlotte is convinced he had a hand in her kidnapping. So it’s off to the interrogation room with him. Anyone else wondering who the heck is watching Baby Carl right now?

Sure, there were a bunch of other things to happen as well (like Emily getting Victoria committed to a mental institution and Daniel’s whole blackmail situation), but those sub-plots won’t be what drives Season 4 forward. That job goes almost entirely to the not-so-dead David. Looks like daddy dearest has a little revenge plan of his own. So one big question that remains is — who else is on his list?

I wonder why they resurrected David. It all had come to a close - a perfect ending for a great show. Revenge had been taken. I wonder where they are headed now. There are other good shows, each year new ones, why do they have to tear it further and further? David's resurrection is, to me, implausible. It puts 3 seasons upside down. I don't like that. I wonder if I'll keep following.

I'm just after lifting my jaw off the floor after that revealing episode. David Clarke's back?? They have no shortage of baddies here, after Charlotte reporting Jack after she realised he had a hand in her kidnapping when realising after placing his hand on her, if you'll excuse the pun!

Will Margot avenge her father, will Gideon get his own way?

Victoria certainly got it in spades, pun intended!

It was poetic justice for David after been stabbed in the back from Conrad!

Thankfully these few ep, including this one picked the pace up, as i was gonna give it the boot myself after the finale.

I await now to see what dynamic this will have on the show now, as its all changed now, especially as most are crossed off the list now & considering there's already a show called Resurrection, heh!

I thought David was a disguise, probably by Aidan.

Why would they even Cancel such a Great show as this... I have to get my Revenge Fix in every week. Plus seeing the Beautiful Emily VanCamp is a big plus. (wonder if she does her own Fight seen and really knows Martial Art's)Would be Nice to see Emily VanCamp be a guest star on Rookie blue or Chicago Fire. (since 2 of her everwood stars are on them) Please keep up the Great work too all the Actors on this great show... U all do a Great Job....

David had to stay in hiding because 1) he is (was) a convicted felon, 2) the Graysons would be after him if they knew he was alive. Now that he is free from the pursuit of the law, he has reappeared to take direct action against the Graysons. And yeah, I don't understand why he kept his daughter in the dark and let her travel down her revenge path (I assume he was hoping she would get his case reopened so he could be cleared). We shall learn next season. And this episode had to be the reason the network executives renewed the show. Can you imagine the uproar if it had been canceled after that ending?
