‘The Shield’ alumna Catherine Dent has found another leading role in AMC’s drama pilot ‘Galyntine.’
As the first series regular, she joins the fantasy-action adventure with hints of sci-fi that is set in a postapocalyptic future without technology. In this new world, a band of survivors are forced to adapt to isolation and, obviously, all of the challenges that come with it.

Enter Dent as Haven, one of the survivors who lived through the global disaster with her two kids. Right now, Dent recurs on FOX’s ‘Gang Related,’ but she’s also been known for her appearances in ‘Touch’ and ‘The Mentalist.’
The pilot is written by Jason Cahill (‘Halt and Catch Fire’), directed by David Mackenzie and exec-produced by Scott Free (David Zucker and Ridley Scott) and ‘The Walking Dead’s Greg Nicotero. Filming is set to begin next month in Utah.
Awhile ago, AMC also announced another pilot titled ‘Knifeman,’ inspired by Wendy Moore’s biography of John Hunter, ‘The Knife Man: Blood, Body Snatching and the Birth of Modern Surgery,’ coming to the network.
Set in 18th century London, it follows the story of a charming, arrogant and decorum-breaking genius challenging the societal norms named John Tattersal, who is willing to dig up a few graves to push the boundaries of modern medicine. John also earns some extra money by harvesting organs alongside his brother Julian -- the favorite son and prized physician.
Tom Hollander (‘Rev.’) will play John, while Daniel Mays (‘The Adventures of Tintin’) will play Julian.
