'Match of The Day' Celebrating 50th Birthday in Style

BBC have announced a special programme to commemorate the 50th Birthday of football programme 'Match of the Day'. In the week the show returns for it's 50th consecutive year airing on BBC one. 'MOTD @ 50' will air on Friday 22nd of August at 10.35pm. Featuring appearances from celebrity fans and the faces most associated with the programme over the year, including Gary Linekar, Alan Shearer, Sergio Aguero, Sue Johnston, Russell Brand and music on the night from Lethal Bizzle and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

With the new Premiership season beginning the entire weeks football action has been announced -

Saturday 16th August

12.10pm Football Focus

10.30pm Match of the Day

Sunday 17th August

12.15pm MOTD2 Extra

10.25pm Match of the Day 2

Friday 22nd August

10.35pm MOTD @ 50

All programmes will air on BBC One.

That sounds good, although weird combination of having Russell Brand with Des Lynam, definitely worth watching.

I can still remember briefly watching Saint & Greavsie on Sat & then MOTD later on, those were the days, as afaik Liverpool v Arsenal was the 1st match on MOTD (LFC won i think)

Maybe we'll get to see 'Dishy' Des Lynam back on the Beeb, as it'll prove a bit of eye candy for the ladies, while the fellas watch the football, as Gary has let himself go with eating all those Walkers crisps, its quite ironic they're called that, as he's sitting down scoffing them, lol!
