'The Big Bang Theory' Contract Issues Halt Production of Season 8

'The Big Bang Theory' Original Cast Members

Warner Bros. Television, the studio that produces ‘The Big Bang Theory’, announced, "Due to ongoing contract negotiations, production on ‘The Big Bang Theory’, which was originally scheduled to begin today, has been postponed."

Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch already have deals, but the five original cast members are holding out for more money. Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, and Johnny Galecki are reportedly seeking $1,000,000 per episode. Kunal Nayyar and Simon Helberg are also asking for raises.

I can see Jim Parsons definetely deserves it and to a lesser extent Johnny Galecki deserves it for the support but he dont carry the show and  Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting definetely dont deserve it. The other 2 who are only asking for a raise are much better actors and funnier too especially Simon Helberg. I actually liked the chic in the original Pilot episode who I thought fit in better. And they also have the guy who runs the comic book store who is also good. The other 2 chics are soso as well..

I remembers when this happen to the casts of Cheers, Sienfeld, Friends, only to name a few... They are not holding out in the true sence of holding out, thet have not contract... The 8 season is where the actors can finally get theirs... Ther producers make the big money in the first 6-7 seasons... This when Charlie Sheen got his $2.2 million per episode deal, in the 8th season... when Friends hit their 7th season, the 6 main actors, the Friends, banded together to get the same deal for all... $1 million is not even in the top 10 deals!

I don't think they are greedy at all.  That show makes MILLIONS of dollars why shouldn't the ENGINE of the vehicle get some?

Don't forget out of the $1mil their agents takes $100K!!!!  If all 5 stars had the same agent he'd end up with 500k PER EP!

Forget acting, AGENT is the profession to be in!

The writers (DRIVER) should get as much as the stars, after all, they are the ones putting the words in their mouths.

Those are some interesting viewpoints Anonymous(es).

But in all honesty, who wouldn't hold out for more money... I know I would, and considering they are the focal point of the show and the very reason the show does so well, I totally understand what they're doing.

Here's to hoping every gets settled soon.

It is the other side of the market we seldom see. The show has the ratings to justify big money for the stars of the show, it's not usual that we individuals holding an upper hand. Too bad that is has become routine for media related companies to air their negotiations to the public and go down to the wire (like Viacom and Comcast, if I remember correctly).
