Nickelodeon Reviving 'School of Rock' as Live-Action Series

School of Rock

Are you ready to rock?

Nickelodeon has announced that they will be reviving the over a decade old Jack Black film ‘School of Rock’ by turning it into a new live-action series. Casting for the series is already underway and the final choices will be announced shortly. Steve and Jim Armogida will be writing, executive producing and working as showrunners for the series. Original directors and producers for ‘School of Rock,’ Richard Linklater and Scott Rudin, are on board for the series as well.

‘School of Rock’ will follow Dewey Finn, an unsuccessful rocker who poses as a substitute teacher at a fancy prep school. "With Dewey's outrageous personality and rock star sensibilities taking center stage, School of Rock will be an irresistibly fun show for the whole family," says Paramount TV president Amy Powell. The series has been picked up for 13 episodes and will be set to debut in the spring of 2015.
