He's been known by many names. John Shaft. Jules Winfield. Mace Windu. Nick Fury. Even Zeus Carver. Now actor Samuel L. Jackson will assume a new title, host of the twelfth annual BET Awards.
This will be Jackson's first attempt at hosting the show, although he has appeared several times as a presenter on previous telecasts. Jackson does bring some hosting experience in with him though, having fronted the 2009 ESPY awards, and the 2007 SpikeTV video game awards. This announcement continues a great year so far for the actor, as he can currently be seen in the mega-blockbuster film The Avengers.
Leading the nominees this year is polarizing superstar Kanye West with seven nods, Beyonce follows closely with 6, while Kayne's Watch The Throne collaborator Jay-Z has received five. The broadcast will also feature performances by Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj. The 2012 BET Awards hit the air Sunday, July 1st at 8PM EST.
No word yet on whether a f****n shark will eat him at some point during the show, or whether he'll be serving Samuel Jackson beer to the audience. After all, it'll get you drunk.
Will you watch the 2012 BET Awards? Do you think Jackson will do a good job hosting?
