If you thought that the singing competition fad had faded since the recent dip in 'American Idol' ratings, think again. This is because of the popular show in the same genre, "The Voice", did so well in NBC's standard, that they have decided to green light another. This time it is going to be called "The Winner Is". Despite the fact that there was a dip in ratings, NBC is confident that this competition show is going to ring in some good numbers. The basics of a competition show are simple, but the creators of this new show have something else up their sleeves.
'The Winner Is' will put singers together in pairs as they sing against each other. However, they have the chance to go out of the competition and take the money! The higher they go the more money they are going to be able to receive. The singers will decide if they are worthy enough to continue. This is a new twist from the other competition shows and this, the creators hope, will give them the edge. In the finals, the contestants will be able to either take the $100,000 or else play for the $1 Million. If neither singer feels that they are bad, then they are going to go to the public vote and see who is going to win the battle.
However, the question still remains. "Do we really need another singing competition show that is similar to 'The Voice' when NBC has just announced that they were double booking the series next year? Is this something that you would watch? Granted, the singing shows have made a hit and so have the musicals, but many argue that this doesn't mean that they have to try to cram more of this down the throats of the viewers. What do you think?
