A big congratulations is in order for Ellie Kemper from “The Office.” Last night the actress told Conan O’Brien she and longtime boyfriend Michael Koman are officially engaged!
"[Michael is a] very talented writer who worked for me for many, many years," Kemper told O’brien. “Michael's a delight, as you know, so of course [my parents] like him a lot."
Kemper admits her family didn’t warm up to her fiancee immediately. At a Thanksgiving meal her grandfather tried to drill in her head that she had options. "There was a pumpkin pie and a pecan pie out, and my grandpa said, 'Ellie, what kind of pie are you gonna have?'" she said. "And I said, 'I don't know, grandpa. They both look really good. I think I'll have pecan'. He said, 'Are you sure, Ellie? Because it's okay to keep your options open. You don't have to settle on a pie right now'. I think Michael started to squirm!"
Apparently her family now has no problem with the love her life and is welcoming him with open arms. The actress, best known as Erin on “The Office,” joins a long list of Office co-stars who have talented other-halves.
Just last year, John Kaminski (Jim), walked down the aisle with actress-girlfriend Emily Blunt.
Rainn Wilson is married to the short story writer Holiday Reinhorn.
Perhaps Jenna Fischer can give Kemper the best advice as she is married to a screenwriter, Lee Kirk, as well.
Congrats to the happy couple! Tune into "The Office" at 9/8C on NBC.
