Drum roll please...the 2012 Golden Globe Award winner is...Miss Rainey Qualley. Before you say, "Who's that?" hold your horses. Remember singer and actress Andie MacDowell? Miss Rainey is MacDowell's 21 year-old daughter. She will co-host the Golden Globes along with funny man, Ricky Gervais next year. Traditionally the award is given out to the child of a noted celebrity. As MacDowell has been in numerous films and productions; films like the 2011 "Footloose," "Muppets from Space," and "Montecarlo"; she more than qualifies as a well-known celebrity.
Qualley was born from a brief marriage that MacDowell had between the years 1986-1999 with model, Paul Qualley. Rainey has two other siblings, a sister and a brother. While she has not done much acting or singing, she hopes that she will get the chance soon. Some past award winners include actress Melanie Griffith and Demi Moore's daughter, Rumer Willis.
Ricky Gervais hosted the Golden Globe show last year, and was incredibly well-received, even as he was the first British man to host the American award show. He is an actor, comedian, author, radio presenter and musician. He was won numerous awards including, Emmys, Screen Actor Guild Awards, and three Golden Globe Awards. He certainly has carved out quite a career in show business, which may make tender and inexperience Qualley feel nervous. His charm and disarming personality should help to warm things up.
Qualley is excited about winning the Miss Golden Globe. She says, " I would like to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for giving me this wonderful opportunity to serve as Miss Golden Globe 2012. I am really looking forward to being a part of this year's award presentation." The nominees for the award show have not yet been released, as always, it will be a show worth watching. Especially when you have beauty with Qualley and wit with Gervais, this show will be a rock and roll sensation.
Join NBC on January 15th, 2012 for the 69th annual Golden Globe show. It will be a night to remember.
