TNT Plans To Return To Dallas In 2013

Dallas cast

The first few episodes of TNT's Dallas revival have done great ratings for the network, so it's really no surprise that they just opted to renew the drama for another season.

If you haven't watched it, Dallas is a sequel/reboot of the classic 80's series, complete with returning cast members like Larry Hagman and Patrick Duffy. There are still six episodes left in the ten episode first season, which will conclude in August. The show has been averaging a quite healthy (for cable) 6.9 million viewers so far. The new season order will expand to fifteen episodes, and is expected to air in summer 2013.

TNT Head Of Programming Michael Wright had the following to say about the renewal - "Dallas has been a success for us on every level: pitch-perfect writing, smart directing and buzz-worthy performances by a new generation of stars and their iconic counterparts. With Dallas’ top-flight ratings, robust growth through time-shifted viewing and the extensive online buzz, it’s clear the Ewings of Southfork have once again captured the imagination of viewers.”

I'm beginning to wonder if the success of Dallas will bring about a new wave of revamped older series that mix old stars with newly rising talents. I suppose it would be better than a straight remake of an old show such as last year's Charlie's Angels. At least this way older viewers could get their nostalgia fix as well.

Are you glad Dallas has been renewed? What other old shows should get a sequel/reboot?

Several have mentioned the third season. I was only aware Dallas had returned with one season so far. I have it scheduled to record any time it begins again, so what are they talking about when they refer to the third season?

Anonymous, if you're talking about TNT's 'Dallas' reboot, it's third season is slated to return early 2014. However, if you're talking about 'Most Elligible Dallas' on Bravo, no word on if/when it will return. BUT, in April 2013 Bravo announced Courtney Kerr from the reality series earned her own spinoff titled 'Courtney Loves Dallas' about making it in the fashion industry and finding herself a man in Texas. No word yet when it will air. Hopefully this answered your question!
