HBO has released a trailer for the new comedy Veep. This show features Julie Louis-Dreyfus in the lead role as the Vice President of the United States. You might be more familiar with the actress as character Elaine Benes from Seinfeld.

This actress has cred, she is also a Saturday Night Live alumni. The plot of Veep is simple, a senator gets the job of Vice-President only to find out it is nothing like how she expected. It turns out all the warnings of her colleagues were true.
In a return to the screen, child actress Anna Chlumsky will be playing the Chief of Staff. She starred in the title role of the My Girl films and then
disappeared. She quit acting to pursue international studies at the University of Chicago. Not intending to come back to acting, but by 2007 she had changed her mind and returned. She took one time roles on tv shows like 30 Rock, Law and Order, and White Collar. In 2009 she starred in The Loop, a film directed by Armando Iannucci. Iannucci is well-known for his BBC satires and is also the mind behind Veep.
The Veep trailer makes a simple point. In typical British style the comedy is subtle. Here is the clip, tell me what you think.
The trailer clocks in at a lean 27 seconds, but it reveals everything. In less than 30 seconds we know just how boring being Veep is going to be. It will be exciting to see if these a comedy like the office were the dullness adds to the character humor. HBO is known for edgy comedies like Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Larry Sanders Show. We can expect some smart humor that will match with Julie Louis-Dreyfus talents.
Will you be tuning for Veep when it premieres on HBO in 2012?
