Will SVU's fourteenth season be its last? At this point, no one really knows for sure. What we do know, is that the show is lining up some interesting guest stars for the fall.
Adam Baldwin (most recently of NBC's Chuck, but also a veteran of shows like Firefly, The X-Files, Day Break, and Angel) has signed on to play interim police captain Steven Harris, who will be filling in for long time team leader Donald Kragen. Those who watched the crime procedural's thirteenth season finale will recall that Capt. Kragen found himself in serious hot water, after he was seen waking up next to the recently deceased corpse of a prostitute. Now accused of murder, Kragen has quite understandably been removed from his position until the case can be resolved.
Baldwin's character is currently scheduled to appear in at least the first three episodes of the new season, during which the fate of Capt. Kragen will presumably be being determined. As you might imagine, Benson, Munch, Fin and the rest of the SVU squad aren't very happy to be taking orders from their newly imposed replacement boss.
Baldwin joins previously announced guest star Paget Brewster, who will be handling Cragen's case for the District Attorney's office. One would assume that their paths will naturally cross at some point during the investigation. Law & Order: SVU returns with a two-hour premiere episode on Wednesday, September 26th at 9pm EST on NBC.
Do you think Adam Baldwin is a good choice for interim captain?
