Lisa Rinna left “Days of Our Lives” in 2005 after 150 episodes as the fan favorite, Billie Reed. Today, The Hollywood Reporter confirms Rinna will return to the role early next year.
According to “Days” sources, Rinna is back on set shooting for the upcoming year, and her episodes will air beginning on March 8.
"I am so thrilled to be back and excited to be acting again," Rinna told THR. "I have done reality shows, talk shows and I thought, what a great way to come back and play a character that I love to play so much. Feels very full circle -- like a new old chapter."
In the past couple years, a number of original cast members have returned to Salem, including Rinna’s “Melrose Place” co-star, and on-screen brother, Patrick Muldoon. Billie Reed’s been a focal point of many storylines on “Days of Our Lives,” but has been absent from the show since her departure to London in 2008. At that point, Julie Pinson played the role.
Though show creators are tight-lipped about the trouble that will follow Billie back to Salem, it appears that she will have her usual tension with mother, Kate. She’s also intended to have some “explosive” on-screen time with ex-husband Bo. We can only wonder what Hope will think of her return, and if Billie will have a pseudo-British accent after living abroad for three years.
In the wake of saving one of the last surviving soaps on air today, what original characters would you like to see return to the show?
