The cancellation of Steven Spielberg produced sci-fi series Terra Nova after one season on FOX was met by the angry cries of many upset fans, especially since the show ended on a cliffhanger that will now never be resolved. Actor Jason O'Mara (who portrayed lead character Jim Shannon on "Nova") was out doing promotion this weekend for his new CBS series Vegas, but was asked about his last job along the way.
On the axing of Terra Nova - "I felt like Fox took an awful long time to make what was ultimately a premature decision. A decision could have been made earlier. However, I’d been keeping an eye on this project for a long time.”
That sentiment is shared by most Terra Nova fans, as the fact that FOX took multiple months to decide to give the show the hook just gave fans ever increasing levels of hope that the delay meant we were probably going to get more episodes. It's nice to know that O'Mara feels the same way. The "this project" he is referring to is of course the Dennis Quaid fronted crime drama Vegas, which premieres this fall.
On the most recent cast addition to Vegas, Sarah Jones, and how she will serve as a counterpoint to female D.A. Carrie Ann Moss - "For the series, we wanted to bring in another dynamic female presence. We had one in the law enforcement world, we wanted one in the casino world as well." That's certainly sound logic, and while I'm not a huge fan of cop shows, I can't deny that the Vegas cast (which also includes Michael Chiklis) has come together nicely.
Do you agree that Terra Nova's end was premature? Will you check out Vegas?
