Here's a bit of a personal interest story for you: have you ever wondered what your favorite Olympians love watching on TV? It's a nice bit of trivia that might even make you feel more connected to these worldwide sports heroes.
Take, for instance, Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas. The sixteen-year-old Douglas has won two gold medals in this year's London Olympics already, with two events left to go. Douglas is the first woman of color in Olympic History to become the individual all-around gymnastics champion, and is the first American gymnast to win the gold medal in both the all-around and team competitions at the same Olympics. These records make her one of the American heroes at this year's competition, alongside Michael Phelps and fifteen-year-old swimmer Katie Ledecky.
Most of us television junkies are a long way from being Olympic gold medalists, but now we have a way to empathize with Douglas. Writing on Twitter Saturday morning, Douglas revealed that she too is a television fan -- and that her favorite show is the CW's The Vampire Diaries.
Michael Trevino, who plays Tyler Lockwood on the supernatural drama, tweeted his congratulations to Douglas for her victories. "A huge congratulations to USA's Golden Girl @gabrielledoug," he wrote. "Your making history!!! #AllAroundChamp"
Douglas replied to Trevino with, "Awww thank you soo much!!! Btw my FAV show is #TVD."
So there you have it -- Douglas likes The Vampire Diaries. You've gotta wonder if she wants Elena to end up with Stefan or Damon.Someone should tweet her and ask -- with her busy Twitter presence, you might just get a reply.
(Since Ian Somerhalder has also tweeted his support, she might just be a Damon fan.)
Douglas has been fielding plenty of tweets from celebrities like Elizabeth Banks, Timbaland, Lady GaGa, Nicki Minaj, and even President Barack Obama.
Douglas will compete again on August 6 and August 7 on the uneven bars and balance beam, respectively.
