After saying goodbye to judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez last month, American Idol is on the rebound. FOX's reality singing competition quickly signed Mariah Carey as a new judge, bringing the judge's table up to two (Randy Jackson, who has been with the show since season 1, will possibly be returning as well). Now, it appears that a third has been added to the panel. Well, maybe. Possibly.
According to TVGuide, singer Nick Jonas has "confirmed reports that he might possibly be joining American Idol." Concrete enough for you?
"I am being considered to be a judge on American Idol, and it would be a dream come true if it happens," Jonas tweeted Saturday.
The 19-year-old Jonas would be the youngest judge in American Idol history. Pharrell Williams is also being considered for the spot, corresponding to rumors that the show might be looking for a judging panel of four people. Other reports say that Jackson might be departing the judge's table, meaning that the show would have an all-new panel consisting of Jonas, Carey, and Williams for its upcoming twelfth season.
Jonas, known for being a part of the pop band Jonas Brothers, recently appeared in the NBC series Smash, as well as the televised 25th anniversary performance of Les Miserables.
Other potential judging possibilities include The Black Eyed Peas' Fergie and former Idol contestant Adam Lambert.
We'll keep you posted on any upcoming American Idol judging developments. The show will return for its twelfth season early next year.
