The Carrie Diaries Photos Surface

The Carrie DiariesSex and the City fans are either going to love or hate The Carrie Diaries. The CW announced the SATC prequel early this winter as rumors flew about just who would play the teen version of Carrie Bradshaw (made famous by Sarah Jessica Parker). Ultimately it was newcomer AnnaSophia Robb who won the role.
Since the announcement of The Carrie Diaries fans have been speculating just what to expect from the series. Much like SATC, The Carrie Diaries is based off Candace Bushnell’s popular novel. However, if it will translate from the book to TV without confusion, that’s a great concern.

After watching SATC it is apparent that we really don’t know much about Bradshaw’s back story. We know that she grew up in the Midwest and that she’s not close to her family. As a young adult she moved to New York where she met besties Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte and since they’ve been inseparable. When reminiscing about their past it sounds like Carrie arrived in New York without a clue and had to build her unique style from scratch. It sounds like she wasn’t the outgoing, charismatic advice columnist she is today, despite quickly learning how to make the most of New York City.

Fans hope that the producers will take into consideration what is known from the series and work it into the new backstory. So far The CW has not started heavy promos for the fall show, but a few still shots have made their way online.

Set in 1984, little Carrie Bradshaw is wearing what appears to be an orange cocktail-style dress with big black polka dots on it. She seems to be flagging a cab, probably heading to prom or a dance. Her hair is big, but tamed, exactly how you would imagine a clueless future fashionista would look in a time of big hair. She looks so innocent, as if she’s ready to head to New York and be eaten alive.
