Rob Pattinson to Make First Post-Scandal Television Appearance on The Daily Show

It's been a pretty awful couple of weeks for actor Robert Pattinson. The 'Twilight' star has found himself at the wrong end of a cheating scandal, which saw girlfriend and 'Twilight' co-star Kristen Stewart having a fling with 'Snow White and the Huntsman' director Rupert Sanders. The scandal is the stuff for which tabloid editors live, and while Pattinson has found himself on the sympathetic end of the outrage, the media scrutiny must be oppressing. But with a new film, Cosmopolis, coming out, Pattinson is going to have to face the media for the film's press tour.

So where will Pattinson go first? Well, ABC's Good Morning America had previously claimed that he would be giving his post-scandal interview there, on August 17. But as it turns out, that's not true at all. After GMA made that announcement, Pattinson decided he was going to go on another interview show two days prior: he'll be chatting with Jon Stewart on Comedy Central's The Daily Show on August 15.

Having seen hundreds of Jon Stewart interviews, I imagine that Stewart will maybe make a sympathetic reference to the scandal to Pattinson, but won't focus too much on it. As Will Ferrell, Zach Galifianakis, and Jon Hamm pointed out a few weeks ago, Stewart is a fan of softer questioning (with a humorous bent, of course). It seems likely that's why Pattinson chose the Daily Show -- Stewart will go for the laughs, and there aren't many laughs to be had regarding this scandal.

Cosmopolis, helmed by 'History of Violence' director David Cronenberg and also starring Paul Giamatti, Jay Baruchel, and Kevin Durand, is slated to premiere August 17 in the Us.
