Community season 4 might be missing one Dan Harmon (who created the series but was ousted by NBC earlier this year), but it's gaining some pretty notable new faces. Take, for instance, Tuesday's announcement that British comedian Matt Lucas will be appearing in a recurring role on the show's upcoming fourth season.
TVLine revealed that Lucas will appear in season 4 in a "multi-episode guest-starring role." It was originally reported that Lucas would be appearing as a former Oxford history professor who comes to teach at Greendale Community College. While this would have fit in with the season premiere title "History 101," TVLine recently retracted this, claiming that Lucas's role is still unannounced.
Lucas is best known for co-creating the popular comedy series Little Britain alongside David Walliams. The two also created an American adaptation for HBO, Little Britain USA. The 38-year-old Lucas has also appeared in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland (as Tweedledee and Tweedledum), and was a regular on Comedy Central's Krod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire. He is also currently heading up another series with David Walliams, the BBC One series Come Fly with Me. He also appeared as one of Kristen Wiig's roommates in last year's comedy film Bridesmaids.
What do you think? Are you excited to see Matt Lucas show up on Community's fourth season? Does it make you slightly more confortable with the direction of the show after Dan Harmon's departure?
Community season 4 will premiere October 19 on NBC.
