Zack Morris and Malcolm to Trust the B---- in Apartment 23

In the first season of ABC's comedy Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23, former Dawson's Creek star James Van Der Beek had a recurring role as a fictionalized version of himself who had become friends with the titular character amidst the celebrity party scene in New York City. This season, at least two other former teen television stars will make an appearance on the show: Mark-Paul Gosselaar of Saved By The Bell and Frankie Muniz of Malcolm in the Middle will both portray themselves in one episode as they encounter Van Der Beek during his quest to orchestrate a Dawson's Creek reunion.

His career sagging since the landmark teen drama went off the air nearly ten years ago, Van Der Beek decides that the time is right for a reunion and as he goes about putting one together, he meets Frankie and Mark-Paul along the way. Although Apartment 23 creator Nahnatchka Khan has expressed her obvious desire to also have Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson, and Michelle Williams provide guest-starring stints on the show, the only Dawson's Creek alum who has agreed to appear so far is Busy Phillips, a regular cast member on Cougar Town which recently moved from ABC to TBS.

Something tells me that unless they still have a close friendship with the Beek, the other three won't be showing up and he will have to recast their parts. Apartment 23 was like nails on a chalkboard when I tried to watch it and I've never even seen one episode of Dawson's Creek, but that actually sounds like it could be pretty funny. What do you think?

I had to check out DON'T TRUST THE B because of the name, and I'm glad I did.  It's funny, even with the free network constraints.  The two stars obviously "get" the material, which can make all the diff.  Hear that, Will & Grace...?!  How anyone who writes about TV, yet has never seen a single episode of DAWSON is kind of weird, Joel Thomas.  You may be the most honest TV reviewer to have ever lived...!  Catch an episode on Youtube, or where ever.  It was a very good show.  The dialogue has to be heard to be believed, though.  Most Phd's don't talk the way these sixteen year olds talk; yet, it works.

I love "Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23."  Cracks me up and I'm pretty amazed with the stuff they get away with on network TV.  My favorite was the episode with the graphic novel about her that was big in Japan, "Tall Slut, No Panties."

Oh, and was a big fan of "Dawson's Creek" too.  Watched the whole series from start to finish.
