NBC's Saturday Night Live has already been hit by the departure of Kristen Wiig and Andy Samberg this summer. Jason Sudeikis has been rumored to be leaving as well, but the actor says he hasn't decided yet.
Sudeikis, who has been a cast member for nine seasons, has steadily emerged in Hollywood as a go-to guy for comedic roles. If he left, he likely wouldn't be on the sidelines that long.
"I'd like the opportunity to use creative muscles that ... haven't been asked of me for the first nine years that I've worked there," he said. "It could be some sort of title change. The least of the concerns is anything financial. I'm not buying a boat because of writing skits. It's more having a desire to give more to a place I really believe in. To stay just for the juice of being in the public eye — of being Mitt Romney — is not enough."
Sudeikis is currently shooting We're the Millers with Jennifer Aniston, who he worked with in Horrible Bosses.
Saturday Night Live has no comment on Sudeikis's status. But after losing two heavyweight cast members, they certainly could use him to stick around and stop the bleeding. But SNL always finds bright new stars, so the show will likely do fine either way.
