Lifetime, a television network that skews towards women, is developing a new show that will focus on stalking. More specifically, on California stalking laws and a hot-headed (is there any other kind) cop and a district attorney who team-up to take down a stalker obsessed with HER former lover (alright, men aren't the bad guys - Lifetime is growing up!).
The show, Whisper of Fear, is based on a book by Rhonda Saunders titled Whisper of Fear: The True Story of the Prosecutor Who Stalks the Stalkers.
Craig Piligian, who usually works in reality programing (The Ultimate Fighter, Top Shot, Dirty Jobs, American Chopper) will executive produce the program through his Pilgrim Studios. He has also worked with Lifetime on two other projects - Abducted: The Carlina White Story and Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy, which starred Hayden Panettiere.
Can Lifetime's recent hot streak, which started with the Jennifer Love Hewitt project The Client List continue? It certainly can't hurt the network to cast beautiful women in its projects and to gear them, at least a little bit, towards men. The larger your demographic, the better chance you have of connecting with someone. And The Client List certainly is trying to catch the male demographic.
Will you watch the new show about stalkers?
