When we last left Boardwalk Empire's Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi), his world was in flux. Without spoiling anything, big changes had come to the show and certain characters had left for that big boardwalk in the sky.
Now, we move forward in time a little bit to 1923 in Atlantic City. Tension rises with New York City and a new guy in town promises trouble for everyone. Here is a trailer that shows us a little of where season 3 is going to take us (Warning: Probably NSFW, unless you work somewhere awesome):
In an interview at The Huffington Post in February, the show's creator Terrence Winter talked about where season 3 is headed:
"We're moving into 1923 when the Twenties really became the 'Roaring Twenties.' The economy began to boom and this became the Flapper Era. The parallels between then and now are obvious because that period mirrors the world we live in today. Prohibition, for instance, is the model for the illegal drug business; it's what made millionaires out of gangsters. People were buying political favors, and big business controlled everything."
"Boardwalk Empire" premieres on Sunday, Sept. 16. at 9 p.m. on HBO.
I haven't seen season 2 yet, but the first season was really well done. This is probably my second favorite HBO on-going drama, behind the marvelous Game of Thrones.
