"Thank you India
Thank you terror
Thank you Fox"
American Idol, fresh off the news that it was bringing Mariah Carey in to judge, is negotiating to have another diva join her. Alanis Morissette, the Canadian/American songstress best known for "Ironic" and "You Outta Know," told Las Vegas CBS radio station Mix 94.1 that she was in talks to join the show as a judge for its 12th season.
"I'm in talks with somebody right now. I can't name any names, but I'm pretty excited at the thought of doing it more formally," she said. "I still have to investigate further, and that's all I can say."
Other huge names in the music industry have talked to Fox about joining its flagship show. Sean "Whatever his nickname is this week" Combs, Pharrell Williams and Nick Jonas also have been rumored to be coming in. It's easy to see why. Everyone who has judged has seen their career revived.
Morissette would be a fantastic fit. She's smart, friendly, a fantastic singer and someone whose career has stalled a bit from where it once was. In recent years, she has focused on television and film as much as her music career, playing a recurring role on Weeds and appearing on Nip/Tuck and Up All Night.
American Idol will return to Fox in January 2013.
