I've never been much of a daytime soap opera viewer, but one show I am quite familiar with is CBS' The Bold And The Beautiful. My mom has watched the show regularly for most of its run, and I've thus been exposed to many of the twists and turns in the sordid lives of the Forrester and Logan clans. Which makes today's news all the more surprising to me.
Ronn Moss, who's played go-to fashion designer and/or Forrester Creations boss Ridge Forrester since the very first episode of B&B way back in 1987, will be unceremoniously exiting the series after being a consistent regular for over two decades. Moss is a member of the "core four" group of original cast members that have remained with the soap since day one. The other three are of course Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke), Susan Flannery (Stephanie), and John McCook (Eric).
The exact reasons behind Moss' departure are still unclear, but industry sources say that the cause is (surprise, surprise) a salary dispute. I would personally question why an actor would leave a steady decades long gig over money when he's already most likely a multi-millionaire, but then I guess that's why I'm not a Hollywood star.
Moss is scheduled to shoot Ridge's final scenes on August 14th, with his last episode set to air at some point in September. Normally, I'd wonder if the soap would simply recast the character, but I find that prospect highly unlikely in this case. There is no way fans would accept a new actor in the role after 25 years. Moss is way too synonymous with the show.
Do you watch The Bold and The Beautiful? Will you be sad to see Ridge Forrester go?

Ridge... Brook.. Taylor.. .it was all a pair of Jeans to me.
Won't be long before the core-audience will drop too and (finally) moves on after 25 years.
