The 2012 London Olympic Games are coming to an end today, but if you're still feeling in the Olympic spirit, there's no reason to fear. Comedy website Funny or Die, home to some of the funniest star-studded videos on the web, released a new video this weekend, and it's Olympic-themed.
It's called The Olympic Ticket Scalper, and it's about exactly what you'd think -- a homeless man cheating people out of Olympics tickets in London. The video wouldn't be particularly hilarious on its own, but with a star-studded cast and a bit of self-referential humor, it's a pleasant enough outing that's worth a laugh or two.
Sir Patrick Stewart (Star Trek: The Next Generation) stars as the scalper, who has plenty of names for his scalping tricks. The best is convincing someone that four opening ceremony tickets are worth the same as tickets for the closer -- that's called a Kyra Sedgwick (Google it if you don't get it).
In addition to Stewart, the video also features Maisie Williams, the child actress best known for playing Arya Stark on HBO's medieval fantasy drama Game of Thrones. Williams plays a street urchin who's not too dissimilar to Arya. The urchin helps the scalper out when he comes face-to-face with his biggest victim yet: Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte. Lochte can't act to save his life, which he apparently loses in the video (at the very best, he's going to have a nasty head wound) so that the scalper can grab his Olympic pass, which enables him to compete.
Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead) shows up as himself, and recognizes the scalper as Patrick Stewart -- though he's easily convinced otherwise. He ends up taking Lochte's place in the Olympics while Stewart and Williams' urchin skip away happily.
You can head over to Funny or Die and watch the video there.
If you've been Sedgwick'd, the 2012 London Olympics closing ceremonies will air on NBC tonight, with appearances by Muse, The Who, and many other musical acts. The network will live-stream the ceremony this afternoon.
