NBC and New Orleans, sitting in a tree...
The peacock has green lit a new thriller (per Hollywood Reporter) from Nicole Snyder and Eric Charmelo, who created the short-lived CW drama Ringer. The new show received a blind script committment to the currently untitled Gothic thriller, which has been described as "sexy" and being "rich with tradition, superstition and murder."
Snyder and Charmelo will write the series and executive produce, along with TBD Productions. TBD Productions worked with the team on the Ringer pilot.
The duo is also working with the network on David Schulner's midseason replacement Do No Harm, which is a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde drama. TBD Productions is also executive producing that show.
Sounds interesting. I love New Orleans and the show would be a great setting for a well-done drama. Both the network and the development team could use hits in the worst way possible. Charmelo and Snyder really took a hit with Ringer, as they had landed Sarah Michelle Gellar in her first staring role after Buffy ended, but the show bombed and barely lasted a season.
NBC is throwing a lot at the wall and praying that something sticks. They have a reputation for ordering a lot of shows and being quick to pull the plug. Hopefully some of these dramas that seem to have potential get a fair chance from the network.
