The Disney Divas are owning the newscycle this week. First, we brought you the news that Miley Cyrus had butchered her hair and was heading in as the last desperate attempt to save Two and a Half Men. Now, Hillary Duff (Lizzie McGuire) is headed back to the small screen, landing a development deal with 20th Century Fox TV, reports the Huffington Post.
Duff has signed a one-year deal, which was confirmed by Celebuzz, which will see a half-hour comedy developed that Duff would star in and produce. If the show fails to progress, 20th Century Fox TV could slide her into a different drama or comedy, but the deal is focused on tailoring a show to Duff's comedic talents (their words, not mine).
In keeping with the times, Duff confirmed the news on Twitter, saying "Ok it's official! Very excited about my development deal with 20th century fox!! t.v. here I come! :)" The smiley face seals it for me. Now I know she means business and this show is going to be a hit.
Duff had taken time off from acting following the birth of Luca, her first son, in March. She has recently appeared in guest star spots on shows such as Gossip Girl, but this deal should produce her first major TV role since Lizzie McGuire ended in 2004.
