We're still waiting for the official confirmation of the premiere date of Doctor Who's upcoming seventh series. The British Film Institute screening of the premiere episode, "Asylum of the Daleks," brings us a little closer to that announcement. It also brings us confirmation of two Doctor Who episode titles.
The fourth and fifth episodes of the season had remained untitled even as the titles for the first three episodes, "Asylum of the Daleks," "Dinosaurs on a Spaceship," and "A Town Called Mercy" were revealed. They had been granted the working titles "Cubed," and "The Angels Wept," but as we now know, these are no longer accurate titles. Here are the titles, as announced that the BFI screening.
The fourth episode of series 7 will be titled "The Power of Three." Not much is known about the episode aside from the fact that it will focus on some mysterious cubes that mysteriously appear on earth, which people take inside their houses. The Ood are rumored to appear, but the meaning of the title is completely unknown. Are the 'three' the Doctor, Amy, and Rory? That's our best guess, but there's a lot we don't know about this episode.
And then there's the highly anticipated fifth episode, which will see the return of the Weeping Angels and the departure of Amy and Rory from the series, permanently. It's titled "The Angels Take Manhattan," referencing the fact that the episode is set in modern day New York City. The title leaves a little to be desired, and brings back unwelcome memories of the utterly awful series 3 outing "Daleks in Manhattan." While this Steven Moffat-penned episode will undoubtedly be better, it'd be nice if Amy and Rory could go out with a stronger-titled episode.
So there you have it -- what do you think of the two new titles? Are they everything you hoped they'd be, or do they leave something to be desired?
We're still waiting on the announcement of the Doctor Who series 7 premiere date, which will likely be within the next month. We'll keep you posted on any news as it happens.
