Wendi McLendon-Covey To Appear on Modern Family

Big stars are expected for the upcoming season of ABC’s hit comedy Modern Family. TV Guide and Entertainment Weekly report that Bridesmaids star Wendi McLendon-Covey will appear on the fourth season as half of a lesbian couple whose son gets in a fight with Camden (Eric Stonestreet) and Mitchell’s (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) daughter Lily on the first day of Kindergarten. Michaela Watkins, of Saturday Night Live fame, will play the other half of the couple.

There’s no confirmed air date for the episode, but it will appear in the first half of the season. It’s been a rough start for the Emmy-nominated show as the stars held out on contract negotiations. Though the show was able to reach agreements with the stars, one minor character will not be returning to the upcoming season.

TMZ reports that Brigette, who plays Stella the French Bulldog, will not return to the show. Jay’s beloved sidekick was replaced with look alike Beatrice for season four. According to the celebrity website the company that represented Brigette, Good Dog Animals, decided to drop her as a client, picking up Beatrice to fill in her roles. Word has it that Brigette was dropped without any warning!

There is no comment from producers on the change, but it should be interesting to watch Stella and Jay’s relationship unfold as a baby takes her spotlight. Gloria announced in the season finale that she is pregnant with her and Jay’s first child. Photos have surfaced of Sofia Vergara sporting a pretend baby bump. Can we say hot mama?

Modern Family returns on Wednesdays at 9/8c on ABC alongside The Neighbors, Suburgatory and The Middle.
