Law and Order: SVU returns with a new string of actual sexual crimes, guaranteed to make you feel unsettled. As the show continues to struggle for ratings, the franchise is reaching out for help from another well known Law and Order family member, Kathryn Erbe.
Erbe played Detective Alexandra Eames for nine years on Law and Order: Criminal Intent until its cancellation in 2011. She will reprise the role in the fourth episode of the upcoming season of Law and Order: SVU. Eames will team up with the SVU team as they search the streets of New York for one of the biggest criminal cases of the season. After leaving her department, Eames is now working for homeland security task force. The crime stoppers will uncover a sex trafficking ring that has heavy connections to terrorists.
Though Erbe is slated for just one episode at this point in time, rumor has it that she may return later in the season to join forces with SVU once again.
Erbe is not the only guest star expected for the upcoming season. Adam Baldwin will join the show as Capt. Steven Harris, who works as an interim captain. His duties will be those generally handled by Capt. Donald Cragen (Dann Florek), who is currently under investigation for murder! Baldwin will appear in the first three episodes while Cragen learns his fate.
News anchor-turned-actor Sue Simmons will also appear as herself in an upcoming episode. Before leaving WNBC after a flub of the “f-word” during a newscast, the reporter decided to pursue an acting career. The anchor will play a news reporter covering an important investigation that is underway (perhaps a murder trial or investigation featuring Capt. Cragen?).
Law and Order: SVU returns Sept. 26 on NBC.
