Following a car accident in Los Angeles earlier today involving Big Bang Theory co-star Mayim Bialik, TMZ cited sources who reported that there were copious amounts of blood at the scene and that one of her fingers was "almost completely severed," putting her at risk of losing the digit. Now, the former star of NBC sitcom Blossom has taken to Twitter to assure her fans that she will be keeping all of her fingers, thank-you-very-much.
Enlisting her husband to type for her due to her injuries, Bialik admitted that she was "in pain" and plugged an interview with the "pre-accident" version of herself on tonight's edition of The Soup, hosted by Joel McHale at 10:00 pm on E!. In response, TMZ updated their story with a note that Mayim's fingers are safe, but "not entirely functional" quite yet. According to the infamous gossip site, Bialik's white Volvo was struck around noon today at the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and La Brea by a vehicle containing a group of tourists from Chile.
Nevertheless, Deadline reports that Bialik will return to work on the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory tomorrow as she is expected to attend rehearsal. Portraying neuroscientist Dr. Amy Fowler, the former teen television sensation joined the hit show in the third season's finale and became a regular cast member during Season Four, earning a 2012 Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
Am I alone in wondering how much that finger would have fetched on eBay if it had been severed and someone found it?
