In the first season of ABC's new comedy Suburgatory, viewers came to know Dallas Royce (played by Cheryl Hines of HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm) as a stereotypical suburban trophy wife, spoiled and superficial, but with a heart underneath the glossy sheen. By the end of the season, she had divorced her cheating husband and was ready to move on with her life. It only makes sense that such a woman would be in dire need of a life coach and TVLine reports that Suburgatory has hired her one in the form of comedic voice actor H. Jon Benjamin, best known for lending his dulcet tones to a variety of animated series.
Described by TVLine as a "master storyteller" and a braggart, the life coach—named Tabitha—is not only unconventional, but also unlicensed. Never one to worry about details, Dallas trusts him for guidance and will even bring him along on her first date with single-father neighbor George Altman, played by another former HBO star, Six Feet Under's Jeremy Sisto. The first appearance of Benjamin's Tabitha will come in the second episode of Season 2 premiering on October 17 at its new time of 9:30 pm Eastern.
Beginning with Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist in 1995, Benjamin has voiced a multitude of animated characters on shows such as Archer, Bob's Burgers, Family Guy, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, The Venture Bros., and Home Movies, and also hosted a short-lived live-action program on Comedy Central entitled Jon Benjamin Has A Van.
