Kelly Rowland, former Destiny's Child singer (one of the two non-Beyonces) and star of high-brow cinema such as Freddy Vs Jason, is hanging up the microphone and focusing on "acting" full-time.
Rowland has teamed up with BET for a new comedy pilot, according to the Hollywood Reporter. She spent part of the last year judging the U.K. version of the X Factor.
The show will be executive produced by Warren Hutcherson (The Bernie Mac Show) and written by Julian Breece (Buppies - yeah, I've never heard of it either).
Rowland will "star" as Dyland, a struggling Los Angeles relationship blogger who lives with her best friend Cherise and their wealthy, divorced roommate Brooke.
Brandon Scott, who appeared as Dr. Ryan Spalding on Grey's Anatomy, will play Dylan's ex-fiancee. He re-enters the picture and prompts her to explore whether she ended the relationship too quickly.
If picked up, the show will join other programing on BET including Reed Between the Lines, The Game and Let's Stay Together, as well as new series Second Generation Wayans and The Real Husbands of Hollywood.
BET is rated among the top 20 cable networks among the 18-49 demographic. It is also the number 1 ad-supported cable network among African-Americans in that demographic and has been for 12 years.
There is about a 0 percent chance of me ever watching this. What about you?
