Good news, my droogy-woogs -- Malcolm McDowell is headed to Community this fall.
McDowell, best known for his lead role in A Clockwork Orange, will have a recurring role in the show's upcoming fourth season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He'll be playing a history professor in two episodes of the NBC comedy, though there's no word yet on what makes his character, named Professor Cornwallis, as zany or unhinged as the rest of Greendale's teaching staff.
Cornwallis isn't the only new addition to the teaching staff -- British actor Matt Lucas was confirmed to be joining the show in a recurring capacity for the show's fourth season. Now, when news of Lucas's casting broke, he was reported to be playing a former Oxford history professor who comes to teach at Greendale Community College -- something that was later retracted. Could English actor McDowell be playing that character instead? With the season premiere titled "History 101," that certainly seems possible.
McDowell is most famous for playing sociopathic miscreant Alex DeLarge in Stanley Kubrick's classic 1971 film A Clockwork Orange. He's also had a variety of television roles, including a stint as villain Linderman in NBC's Heroes, Adult Swim's Metalocalypse, The Mentalist, Franklin & Bash, and Entourage.
What do you think? Is McDowell a good addition to the Greendale family?
Community season 4 will return October 19 at 8:30/7:30c on NBC.
