Fans of MTV's the Real World, another one is gone.
Joey Kovar, who appeared on the Real World: Hollywood in 2008, was found dead yesterday morning at a friend's home in the Chicago area.
Kovar was 29 years old.
The bodybuilder and aspiring actor was found with blood trickling from his nose and ears and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the L.A. Times. Speculation is that drugs played a role in his death.
Kovar has a history with substance abuse. He left his season of the Real World midway through to go to rehab. He also appeared on Dr. Drew Pinsky's Celebrity Rehab in 2010, where he opened up about his cocaine abuse, during which he admitted that he dreamt about doing the dangerous drug.
"I want this, but at the same time, I’m not going to make any false ... promises," Kovar said. "I’m not going to tell you. 'I’m going to be sober,' 'cause I don’t know."
Death has found other Real World cast members, probably the most famous of which was Pedro Zamora from the third season, which was set in San Francisco. Zamora's death was noted by President (at the time) Clinton as showing us all what it was like to be living with AIDs.
Pedro's friend, Judd Winick, was also a cast member and parlayed that fame into a career as a comic book writer. He wrote a well-regarded comic book, Pedro and Me, which won numerous awards.
