It’s no surprise that Live! will be an entirely different show now that Regis Philbin retired. Sure, Kelly Ripa is still contracted with the show, but will anyone have the chemistry she did with Regis? Live! executives have yet to name a permanent host for the daily talk show, but it seems that there’s a long line of celebrity co-hosts set to ring in the new year.
Hubby Mark Consuelos will first join Ripa on Jan. 2, but is not staying around longer than one day. The next day Jim Parsons, from “The Big Bang Theory,” will co-host, while David Duchovny will appear on Jan. 4 and Rob Lowe from Jan. 5 through 6. Now, though there’s no official word on who the co-host will be, there’s a few obvious choices as to who’d be a good fit for the job.
Everyone loves Neil Patrick Harris. He’s spunky, has edge, but is also wholesome enough for the ABC show. As a father, he’d have plenty of stories to keep us entertained. J.R. Martinez just won “Dancing With the Stars,” and America fell in love with him. He left everyone inspired after his dances, but most importantly he is incredibly funny and loveable. Carson Kressley would also be fun because he pushes the limits just enough to make you wonder if he said that, but his tone and facial expressions are so playful it makes you laugh. Regardless who may appear as a good fit, the best co-host is obvious. Mark Consuelos. He’s been guest co-hosting for years, and Live! fans love him. Why not let a husband and wife duo take over daytime television?
