True Blood Season 5: First Photo from the Season Finale Revealed

True Blood's fifth season has certainly been a strange one, and it'll be coming to an end on Sunday night with the episode "Save Yourself." The penultimate episode of the series, "Sunset," saw Sam be served up as dinner for Bill, Russell chow down on a faery and discover the club where Sookie was hiding, as well as Eric and his sister Nora escaping from the grasp of the Authority. Lots more happened, but since we don't have five hours to explain all of True Blood's (really unnecessarily) numerous plotlines, we'll just skip right to what's supposed to happen in Sunday's finale.

According to the press release, "Eric embarks on a final, desperate mission to overthrow the Authority – and save Bill from losing his humanity. Andy faces the consequences of a light pact he made; Alcide readies for a second showdown with J.D.; Sam and Luna test their limits in trying to escape the Authority."

The first promotional photo from the episode has been released, and while it doesn't reveal much (how could it, with all those plotlines?) it reveals enough. For instance, it clues us into the fact that Eric's mission will involve not only his sister Nora (as you might have guessed), it also involves Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) and newly turned vampire Tara Thornton (Rutina Wesley). In the photo, they appear to be having a bit of a pow-wow to discuss exactly what plan of action they're going to take.

After all, the odds are against them, considering that Bill has now turned evil, Jessica has gone into hiding, and Russell and Steve now big fans of faery blood. Of course, we expect the good guys to win out in the end, but how are we going to get there?

"Save Yourself" will air Sunday, August 26 at 9/8c on HBO, just before the season finale of The Newsroom.
