Chloe Sevigny the latest star to join 'Portlandia'

After showcasing the talents of Jeff Goldblum and Tim Robbins during the 2nd season, season 3 of 'Portlandia' will feature another Academy Award nominated talent: Chloe Sevigny. reports that the hip, quirky comedy will introduce viewers to Alexandra (portrayed by Sevigny), a new roommate of Fred Armisen & Carrie Brownstein's characters (named Fred & Carrie, naturally).

Chloe Sevigny in a white suitMost recently known for her starring role in 'Big Love,' Sevigny has been a star of television and the silver screen since the mid-1990s. Nominated for an Oscar for her supporting role in 2000's groundbreaking 'Boys Don't Cry,' Sevigny has never shied away from a gritty or intense role, making her a darling of the arthouse film circuit. Her controversial role of Daisy in 2003's 'The Brown Bunny' (wherein she performed graphic on-screen oral sex on director and co-star Vincent Gallo) further cemented her credibility as a fearless actor willing to take on any challenge.

Sevigny's much-touted hipster-credibility has now brought her to 'Portlandia,' marking the actor's first appearance in a comedic role in years. She can also be seen this Fall in 'American Horror Story: Asylum,' playing a character named Shelly the Nymphomaniac. Something tells me this talented starlet hasn't seen the end of media controversy.

The third season of 'Portlandia' debuts January 2013 on IFC.

Just have to mention her wonderful performance earlier this year in Hit & Miss,a British television series broadcast on Sky Atlantic. Chloë Sevigny played a transsexual contract killer. It is very explicit, both visually and in the language used.

For more info go to the TVRage page on Hit & Miss

I am just hoping that that there will be a 2nd season.
