After showcasing the talents of Jeff Goldblum and Tim Robbins during the 2nd season, season 3 of 'Portlandia' will feature another Academy Award nominated talent: Chloe Sevigny. EW.com reports that the hip, quirky comedy will introduce viewers to Alexandra (portrayed by Sevigny), a new roommate of Fred Armisen & Carrie Brownstein's characters (named Fred & Carrie, naturally).
Most recently known for her starring role in 'Big Love,' Sevigny has been a star of television and the silver screen since the mid-1990s. Nominated for an Oscar for her supporting role in 2000's groundbreaking 'Boys Don't Cry,' Sevigny has never shied away from a gritty or intense role, making her a darling of the arthouse film circuit. Her controversial role of Daisy in 2003's 'The Brown Bunny' (wherein she performed graphic on-screen oral sex on director and co-star Vincent Gallo) further cemented her credibility as a fearless actor willing to take on any challenge.
Sevigny's much-touted hipster-credibility has now brought her to 'Portlandia,' marking the actor's first appearance in a comedic role in years. She can also be seen this Fall in 'American Horror Story: Asylum,' playing a character named Shelly the Nymphomaniac. Something tells me this talented starlet hasn't seen the end of media controversy.
The third season of 'Portlandia' debuts January 2013 on IFC.
