Real Time with Bill Maher kicked off its fall run last Friday, and as the series approaches the 2012 presidential election, you can bet that the discourse is going to get more spirited. The panel and special guest for this Friday's (August 24) episode has just been released, so let's take a look at who will be chatting with Bill this week.
Will Cain, a CNN contributor and columnist for The Blaze, will be on the panel Friday. Cain's certainly closer to the left than the right, though he has spoken out against "partisan hacks" in the past, meaning that his arguments will probably be well-reasoned. Cain will be jointed by Katty Kay, a British news anchor for BBC World News America in Washington and author of the book Womenomics. The majority of her recent tweets have been about senatorial candidate Todd Akin's "legitimate rape," comments, meaning that she'll definitely have something to say when that topic is inevitably brought up. The third and final member of the panel is Jack Kingston, a Republican U.S. Representative for the state of Georgia, who is approaching his twentieth year in office.
Much like last week's Chelsea Handler appearance, Maher's special guest will be a comedian. D.L. Hughley, the stand-up comedian who formerly served as anchor for the CNN series D.L. Hughley Breaks the News from 2008 to 2009, will join the panel in the second half of the series.
No word yet on who Maher's guest at the beginning of the show will be.
What do you think? Does this seem like a good panel to you? Are you excited to see Bill tear into Akin and other news items of the week?
Real Time with Bill Maher will air its next episode live, Friday, August 24 on HBO.
