90210 seems to be a growing platform for music stars of all genres. As one of The CW’s highest rated shows with teens and college-aged viewers, it’s only natural that the show would act as a stage for anyone with a new album to visit for promotion. Carly Rae Jepsen will appear at the beginning of 90210’s fifth season with her summer hit “Call Me Maybe,” but she’s not the only popstar who is set to appear this fall.
Nelly Furtado is gearing up for her promotional tour of September’s release “Spirit Indestructible.” The “Promiscuous” singer will appear in a November episode with perhaps her new single. There is no detail as to what fans can expect, but shall we assume she’ll be playing a posh party or hip club in the 90210?
The singer is just the latest in a string of major guest stars for fifth season. Lori Loughlin returns as Debbie Wilson to help Dixon through his recovery, while Lindsey McKeon will play a mentor for Silver who is dealing with having genes that carries breast cancer. Jason Thompson is also appearing as Detective Eugene Thompsen, a top secret character who will play part of an extensive storyline.
Let’s not forget the most talked about guest star is Olympic gold medalist swimmer Ryan Lochte. Lochte will play himself, who stays at the same resort as socialite Naomi. It’s only a one time role, so we can safely assume heavy flirting will go on- maybe a hook-up between the two, but nothing more.
90210 returns October 8 on The CW at 8/7c.
