FOX loves the taste of 'Bob's Burgers.'
With thirteen episodes remaining to be aired this fall, Deadline.com reports that FOX has ordered six more scripts as a part of the season 3 order, keeping the hit show's writers busy for the foreseeable future. The third season of the animated show was ordered back in January and this additional order shows a lot of confidence in the staying-power of the series, from the FOX execs.
The six additional scripts will bring the order for the third season to a total of nineteen episodes. Having just earned its first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Animated Program, it would seem FOX is poising the marketing-machine behind 'Bob's Burgers' in hopes of transitioning its ratings from 'solid' to 'outstanding.'
What is already outstanding is the calibre of voice-talent boasted by the animated series. Bob's eccentric landlord, Mr. Fischoeder, is voiced by Academy Award Winner Kevin Kline ('De-Lovely'), who will be reprising the role in the upcoming season. Along with Kline, Jeffrey Tambor ('Arrested Development') is a 'Burgers' mainstay, lending his recognizable baritone to the series as the chemically-imbalanced and madcap Captain Flarty. A guest-star announced for the upcoming episodes is none other than the red-hot Zach Galifinakis ('The Hangover') who will join the cast as Chet, a man in love with a department store mannequin.
Time will tell if the added investment on behalf of FOX translates to increased investment by the audience.
