The eighth season of FOX's procedural series Bones is coming up, and there are plenty of questions to be answered. The first of those is, "Jeez, it's been on the air THAT long?" The second, though, is more related to the plot: how will Brennan get herself out of the quandry in which she found herself at the end of the show's seventh season.
After all, the cliffhanger of the season 7 finale, "The Past in the Present," found Bones framed for a crime she didn't commit, leaving her to take her baby daughter on the lam until she could prove her innocence -- and the guilt of Christopher Palant (Andrew Leeds) in several murders.
A promo released for the season 8 premiere shows Brennan donning a blonde 'do as a disguise, with the team apparently being forced to pursue her -- though really, of course, they're all on her side.
One quick scene from the trailer shows Brennan flipping Booth to the ground in a motel room, before telling him she knew he would come for her. Another scene shows off some pretty cringeworthy dialogue as the two chat outside.
"I can't live like this anymore," she tells Booth, apparently expressing a desire to turn herself in.
"How are you going to live if they throw you in jail for the rest of your life?" is his eloquent reply, which doubles as a reminder that the stakes are high for Brennan to prove her innocence.
But I wouldn't worry; Zack Addy's probably the only member of the Bones team who will ever receive a life in prison sentence.

Bones season 8 will premiere with the episode "The Future in the Past" September 17 on FOX.
