Saturday Night Live Hosts the Return of Jimmy Fallon

NBC has released their promos for Jimmy Fallon’s return to Saturday Night Live. Fallon left the show in 2004 to pursue a film career. In 2009 he took over hosting duty of Late Night from Conan O’Brien. This Saturday will mark a return of the comedian to SNL for the first time as host. He has made several appearances since his departure in cameo roles.

Jimmy FallonJimmy Fallon was responsiable for many fan favorite sketches. This means SNL fans might see an appearance of The Barry Gib Talk show. In that skit he was accompanied by Justin Timberlake who has been known to drop by the studio to appear in sketches. Fallon was also know as the co-anchor of Weekend Update. He was host of the segment along with Tina Fey. Fey has many reasons to drop by the SNL set. 30 rock is returning next month and Sarah Palin is shopping around a new TV pilot. Hopefully she will make an appearance.

Promos for this weeks episode are Christmas Themed. In one he performs a song with cast member Fred Armisen. In another the two debate the existence of Santa Claus. In another they argue over the proper way to play Jingle Bells. Not surprisingly this is the Holiday episode of Saturday Night Live. Some of SNL’s classic sketches have come from this special show. The controversial Ben & Jerry’s flavor, Schweddy Balls, is named for a skit that aired during the Holiday season.

The musical guest for Saturday’s SNL episode is Micheal Buble. He is promoting his Christmas Album that is the number one on the Billboard Top 200 chart. A position it has held for three weeks. This crooner duets with some popular musicians and brings his own style to seasonal classics.
