CNN mainstay Anderson Cooper's daytime talk show has seen numerous renovations of late, with one of the most drastic changes being that each week Cooper will be joined by a celebrity co-host.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cooper's first week back will find the news anchor welcoming Tony-winning actress Kristin Chenoweth to be by his side. Chenoweth is fresh of a turn on the CBS drama "The Good Wife," which the actress was forced to leave after an on-set injury. She will partner on "Anderson Live" for the show's September 10th episode.
Additional co-hosts named include Goldie Hawn, Kelly Osbourne, Cyndi Lauper, Howie Mandel, Erin Andrews, D.L. Hughley, and Kellie Pickler.
The Warner Bros-distributed daytime talk show announced numerous tweaks to the format of the the newly-dubbed "Anderson Live", including the new name, new set, and new live format with rotating co-hosts. The series saw an uptick in ratings when it experimented with the rotating co-hosts in May, and hope that making it a permanent fixture will raise the show's profile in an increasingly crowded daytime television landscape.
"We've got a lot of fun, great things planned for the new season," said Cooper. "I am really excited to be joined by daily co-hosts and look forward to switching to a live format, which allows us more freedom to cover topical issues as well as connect more with the viewer at home."
"Anderson Live"? Wouldn't a better title be "Hangin' With Mr. Cooper"?
